History
Moore Brothers Electric Company, Inc.
was founded in 1945 by Athol “Al” Moore and his brother Monte. In
1946 the electric motor repair business was slow and Al had a family
to support, so he was forced to go back to his old job at AC Spark
Plug Division where he was a 3rd shift foreman. Al still continued
repairing motors during the day to help keep the business growing
steadily.
Moore Brothers Electric moved out of its original
location in 1952 to 2602 Leith Street at Dort Hwy in Flint,
Michigan. Shortly after the move to a larger facility, Moore
Brothers Electric became stocking distributors for companies like
Penn, Honeywell, General Controls and White-Rodgers just to name a
few.
Monte died in 1965 and Al took over the company
in a smooth transition. When Al died in 1970 Moore Brothers Electric
was able to continue due to the dedicated employees and Al’s wife
Ethel, who stepped in to head the firm.
With continued growth in the electric motor repair
business, Ethel could see the need for her own machine shop where
Moore Brothers Electric now does their own welding, broaching, spray
bonding, metalizing and precision balancing.
Presently, Moore Brothers Electric
stocks or has next day delivery to our customers for over 150 name
brand manufacturers of pneumatic and electric HVAC controls. Also,
in stock or availability to next day to our customers are thousands
of new motors such as Baldor, A.O. Smith, Fasco, Century,
Marathon, Franklin, Emerson and many more name brands.
Ethel N. Moore decided to retire, so January 1,
1999 brought new owners to Moore Brothers Electric. Rhex and Mary
Moore and their sons David and Rhex Alan Moore continue the Moore
family tradition as the new owners of the family owned and operated
business. Their presence insures the high quality of excellent
service and competitive prices that their customers have received
for over 50 years.
Now in 2003, it is not unusual to see David and
Rhex Alan’s children, Ashlee, Ryan, Zack and Alex in the business
asking questions and looking around. Could this be a fourth
generation at Moore Brothers Electric? Continued customer
satisfaction is one way for this to happen.
